Revelation - Yet So Far - Shadow Kingdom Records - 2009 [ CD ] |

Revelation from Baltimore, Maryland, USA is one of the most respected Doom Metal bands around. Carrying a dedicated underground spirit and a great talent this band has released some real classics that should be in the collection of every serious Doom Metal fan. One of them is the Yet So Far album originally out on 1995 on Hellhound Records (hail) it is now again on Shadow Kingdom Records (hail once more!) giving the chance to the younger ones to get hold of this Doom Metal anthem.
The band’s traditional, melodic Doom Metal enforced not only by its heavy riffing, as the guitar leads, the adventurous guitar melodies and the complex song’s structure are the main features in here. It is a fact that Revelaiton’s music has a serious Progressive touch and it is far far away from the typical every day traditional Doom Metal based in one or two simple riffs. Pay so more attention to the bass lines, to the rhythm section, discover new hidden guitar melodies in every new listening and enjoy those mournful vocals. At the end of the day you will agree with my point. The record includes some of the band’s classic tunes like Morning Sun, Fallen and Alone but if you want my opinion there should not be any pick from here. The ENTIRE album is an absolute classic. Well what else can I write? Just notice how many times I used the word “classic” in this review… If you are into Doom Metal you SHOULD be aware of this release without leaving out the rest Revelation discography. http://www.revelation-usa.net/ Review by: Countraven |
