I could not even stand one more “retro” album… you know… those plastic ones that includes nothing but photocopied ideas. Fortunately the second release by German Hellish Crossfire is not to be put on the list of “uninspired retro stuff”. They worship the German Thrash/Speed Metal as it was presented in mid 80s by pioneers like Sodom, Kreator, Living Death, Iron Angel etc. They add even more solid and fast riffing, some more old school leads and those hellish vocals, creating a Metal mixture that would make your head bang after all. Hey and I am sure that it is not just me that have noticed a serious Hellhammer / early Celtic Frost touch on the album's stuff.
No they are not stealing the classic riffs re presenting them with different titles like your classic every day “retro Metal” bands. They are working on their own ideas, adding their very own unholy touch on their songs that sound ancient and old school meanwhile they adding a fresh unique touch to their spell carrying an unstoppable power that would sure overtake you. After all there are five years passed since their debut (with only one split release in this period) and the new album contains just eight songs. That means that a lot of work (and re-work) have been done to this stuff before it comes to its final shape: The shape of ancient skull crushing Steel. The fanatics already got it. Those who search for speed and power the old school way should check it, the rest…? Come on we need albums like this to take us back into our teen years. After all we all need some Thrash Metal from time to time right? Well after all its Metal folks. Pure Metal… In your face… All hail to hellish Crossfire!!! http://www.myspace.com/hellishcrossfirethrash Review by: Countraven |
