Crosswind - Opposing Forces - Private - 2009 [ CD ] |

Shortly after the excellent "Beyond", Greek power metallers Crosswind are back with yet another EP, predecessor to their upcoming full length concept album.
Simply put, these guys are one of the finest bands to ever come out of the Greek heavy metal scene. Bombastic speed/power metal, rooted firmly in the Teutonic school, but not shy on casting fleeting glances to the other side of the Atlantic as well. The musicianship is outstanding, the guitar work intricate, the rhythm parts bombastic, and the vocal delivery of Kyriakos Vosdokas very impressive, being able to provide high octave volume and energy in full voice (the Queensryche cover of "Walk in the Shadows" attests to that). Kudos must also be given for the amazing production, powerful & booming yet crystal clear, which is not the norm for an indipendent release. If you fancy European speed metal in the vein of "Tales..." era Blind Guardian, "Somewhere..." era Gamma Ray, "Black Hand In" era Running Wild etc., with some U.S. touches (mostly on the vocal delivery) then Crosswind leave very little to be desired. Well done guys! http://crosswindmetal.com/ Review by: Asgardlord |
