Hellenic Forces Fanzine published by Kostas Kousiouris is one of the most important Zines in our country focused and specialized on Greek Metal Scene. Tthis publication presents every single band that praises the Steel. Apart from the printed issues there are three compilation CDs in existence released under the moniker of Hellinic Forces. Through those compilations Greek heavy Metal bands got the chance to present their work into a wider range of listeners.

The third volume of the compilation CD is here including 15 tracks many of them unreleased anywhere else and believe me this is the most interesting part to this series of compilation CDs: the chance for us to grab recordings available nowhere else. Let’s focus to the bands and I will start with the Metal GODS Nemesis from Ioannina and their unreleased OPUS “Mother Earth” which is included in here. The band prepares its comeback and this is one of their new songs. Well we got to be prepared for a new stormy attack by those Metal Masters if their entire new material is in the vein of the “Mother Earth” song. We also can hear an unreleased track by the –now disbanded- Metallers BrainFade from Athens. For those who remember this band and their great releases this track will be a great surprise. It was included in their limited 1996 promo tape and now it is back on the daylight, this is first class Power Metal dudes. My favorite Power Metallers Everdome (hail) are also participating in this compilation CD with a demo version of the song “Gods Of Treason” which will be included into their second “AfterBirth” album. Youngsters StorrmBringer from Bolos deliver Epic Steel. Their Promo CD had overtaken me from first hearing and their debut on Eat Metal Records is an absolute must. Atria Mortis form Thessaloniki (hail again) are also participating with the “Blazing Skies” track from their –listen out or die- demo The Samurai. Passionate and technical Power Metal is what you will hear by this band. Legends Power Crue are presenting here a pick from their forthcoming and yet untitled forth album record live from a rehearsal session. “Modern Tyranny” is the name of the song and it is in the classic Heavy Metal that Power Crue deliver. Digging more to this compilation we will discover the well known to us all Battleroar: “Hyrkanian Blades” is the first re-recorded Battleroar song with the band’s new line up including the GOD (ex Inner Wish) singer Yiannis Papanikolaou and the guitarist Stelios Sovolos for Hannibal. WishDoom from Thessaloniki deliver savage Epic Metal and the “My Wish Your Doom” track from their “Winds OF War” EP is their participation in this compilation CD. From Thessaloniki also comes WitchCurse that delivers a mix of early Iron Maiden and Venom “Demon’s Warning” from their same titled demo is the track that could be found in here.

Shadow Veil from Rethymno / Crete are delivering multi-influenced interesting and inspired Metal and this is a new song by this band. You should also check their first demo. Heart Attack is a new band / project started by George Drimylis (one of my favorite voices in Greek Metal) and Demetris Nedis both ex members of Raging Storm. “Falling Apart” is one of their first songs and it appeared exclusive in this compilation CD as they still have not released everything. Hand Of God is the new project of the guitarist Theodore Ziras who plays all the instruments with him we can listen the drummer Sebbastian Persini and the female vocalist Marisia in a catchy female fronted Metal result. The album will be released soon and the song is presented (yes you guessed it right) exclusively in this compilation CD. Last Chance is a project band of Panagiotis Igantiiadis, Panagiotis was the guitarist of Crystal Clear (that had released this great Payback time CD back in 2003 and an older demo back in 1995). In this -exclusive presented in Hellenic Forces 3 compilation- track expect a most technical musical approach form Panaigotis not similar enough with the classic Heavy Metal sound of Crystal Clear but still interesting. Inner Axis are created by the Greek guitarist Zaharias Drossos. They are based in Germany and they are ready to release their “Into The Storm” debut. Until the release of album you can take a first taste of their Euro-Power Metal by listening the “Soutaker” track which is included in the compilation CD. Finally The Silent Rage delivers melodic Power Metal in a modern approach and here we can listen a track form their debut “Perished in Flames” demo. The band already got an EP out and is ready to release their “Inner Scars” demo.

Well as you can notice here we got not a “lets pack some tracks from the band’s demos on a photocopied CDr and spread it around” case of a compilation. It mostly included unreleased stuff presented exclusive and for the first time. It comes on factory pressed CD, in jewel case, including pro printed cover and booklet with all the need info for the bands and the songs. All that I should say is a big big WELL DONE to Kostas and all the guys at Hellenic Forces for their professional work. Everyone should buy this CD not to “support the Greek scene” but just because it includes some godly music by excellent bands and will offer you some extra hours of Metal enjoyment.
