Russian label Solitude Productions and the Sub Label BadMoodMan Music brings to the masses some great pieces of sorrowful music. The stuff coming out by those two labels is basically focused on Doom Metal but Ambient, Black Metal and Downtempo stuff would find a safe place under the label’s moniker as well.
AVIAN feature the amazing vocal skills of Lance King (Balance Of Power, Pyramaze, Gemini etc.), guitarist and main songwriter Yan Leviathan, ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson (F5) and Cellador's Bill Hudson. They deliver impressive timeless Heavy Metal for fans of US legends like Savatage or European heroes like Hammerfall and Edguy.
When a friend recently asked me what type of metal I prefer listening to, I replied “Most kinds of classic heavy metal, but my heart belongs to epic”. He then proceeded to ask “Like? Give me five songs/bands as an example”. I gave him some “off the top of my head” examples, but on the drive home it got me thinking… and here’s the result :P
King’s Ransom from San Antonio, Texas, really captivated me with their beautiful “Curators of the Realm” EP. As you’ll see in the review featured on this site, it’s a unique piece of genuinely progressive and at times theatrical heavy metal.
