If you are old enough and you’re into collecting all sorts of obscure heavy metal “diamonds”, then there’s no way for you to not know about this band from New York. They released a cassette EP that ended up being the object of worship, and therefore trade, in every possible format: cassette, CDr, music sheet etc. From hand to hand at first, and through the power of the internet later on, the five songs on that tape end up gaining mythical status in no time.
Unlikely every other shit that ends up being called “cult” only due to pop culture reasons, MAJESTIC RYTE’s material is here to teach a hard lesson to every bonghead out there. And you know why? Because it’s about well done, FIRST CLASS, pure, lyrical, EPIC METAL with blazing guitar solos and screaming vocals, accompanied by mythical riffs.
There’s not even one moderate second in these five songs and the only thing that’s left for someone reading this review to do, is to simple agree and kneel before this NY steel, even if he hasn’t heard a note of it before.
Even if the only thing they decided to re-release were the falsettos done in the song “Eternal Paradise”, I’d still be buying all the copies for myself in advance.
The EP was re-issued last February [2018] by Cult Metal Classics for the first time in CD format, with remastered sound, a great booklet full of interesting information and photos.
I’m getting emotional just in the thought of placing it next to my CDr copy of the EP which, among others, also contains the TYRANT 7” and the two HEATHENS RAGE demos. Everyone who once was heavily into trading, knows what I’m talking about!
