Well yes I still remember the very initial shock I came through when I first heard this magnificent debut full length by NOOR. “They are not making like this any more”: This was my initial thought, and you know what? I am still very much into this mood. Someone may wonder why, well ok, I will try to explain.
Tthe young Canadians are delivering a greater than great combination of US Power and Progressive Metal, with some remarkable Speed and even some Tech-Thrash Metal elements in the mix.
The overall development of each and every song is the main feature I paid attention at, even from my very first listening sessions of this album: On an era when we truly struggle to discover a single interesting riff or guitar part in lots and lots of albums or songs, there is a wide range of into the point and inspired riffing that completes every composition’s puzzle. And yes, the band is wisely developing their song’s structures using the above mentioned material to produce solid compositions that matter.
And then comes the solos, the lead parts and of course the larger than life vocals, that create a soundscape of melodies and even more melodies, making the songs of this record to approach sky high levels.
“Mother’s Guilty Pleasures Part One” was first released in digital format and a private pressing was released afterwards in September of 2024. Arkeyn Steel Records now presents the European edition of the album, including four bonus tracks. So now everyone finally gets the chance to have the ultimate edition of this masterpiece which includes a brand new song entitled “Follow the Light”, the “Les Canadiens Sont Là” single (previously available only in digital format) plus two live songs.
