DRAGONNE was a heavy/power metal band from Los Angeles, and the “On Dragons Wings” EP was its first release back in 1988. The album is now reissued with its six original songs and three unreleased songs, plus the demo version of “Long Way”, which is among the band’s best songs.
The album has everything that a fan of this music wants; Amazing heavy/power melodies that travel you from HEIR APPARENT’s first LP to LEATHERWOLF’s second S/T album, with great vocals that match with the band’s music perfectly. It is very difficult for someone who adores the 80s, not to be thrilled with “Long Way”, “Without Love”, “Shades of Light”, or “Need to Rock You”. These are very good songs that captivate the essence and the feeling of the melodic US metal in the 80s.
But there is also one more song that deserves special notice; “Heaven Calls” is a heavy/power metal anthem that the majority of the US bands of the 80s would love to have written. Fantastic song, with excellent melodic and powerful riffs, and an epic structure that makes the track an instant classic for those who understand and feel this kind of music.
“On Dragons Wings” is a very good album for the fans of the 80s, especially for those who have spent many hours on the records of HEIR APPARENT, Q5, LEATHERWOLF or DIO. The unreleased tracks also add to the quality of the album (especially “Shades of Light” and “Need to Rock You”), making the album a more complete and satisfactory release.
