I have to confess something to anyone who might care: this is the shit I live and breathe for. Straight to your face heavy metal the way it was meant to be played. But let us set first things first. SNAKEYES come from Spain and this is their second full length album. The first one called β€œUltimate sin” was released a couple of years ago but sadly I never had the chance to listen to it. Nevertheless the band is here now with a new album, stronger than ever and ready to take on the world, relying mostly on their music and live shows instead of crappy social media presence.

The first thing that draws the attention of the listener is the really impressive artwork that depicts a monstrous humanoid rising from hell, a very nice drawing that gives a first impression of what will follow: hot steamy heavy/power metal with soaring vocals, great guitars, galloping bass and thunderous drums.

The band draws inspiration mainly from the β€œPainkiller” era of Judas Priest and generally from the mid 90’s heavy/power metal scene: ICED EARTH, PRIMAL FEAR, PARAGON, HELLOWEEN, BRAINSTORM etc. mixing those elements with technical solos and high pitched vocals in order to create a well-rounded modern classic. You won’t get any retro stuff here, the band’s sound direction is traditional metal in more modern approach. Just think of CAGE or ICED EARTH playing in a more European way. Great production that lets the sound flow natural from your speakers while the bands excellent composing abilities makes the album worth listening to.

Check their web-page, there some great bundles for those who want a copy: http://www.snakeyes-metal.com.

Interview with ETERNAL CHAMPION

I guess that for the readers of Forgotten Scroll, ETERNAL CHAMPION from Austin, Texas, US, need no special introduction. Their β€œArmor of Ire” debut is already identified as a classic on the Epic Metal genre. They are about to march into battle again, releasing a second album called "Ravening Iron", so yes, this is a good chance for a discussion with the band's singer Jason Tarpey.
