CONCEPTION: Reunion & EP New EP Due This Fall

20

Two decades since its last release, Norwegian hard rock band CONCEPTION has reunited with its familiar lineup: Roy Khan, Tore Østby, Ingar Amlien and Arve Heimdal. Having decided to control the process themselves, the bandmembers now turn to their fans via a PledgeMusic campaign to help generate the funds they need for releasing their brand-new material.

Since releasing the albumĀ “Flow”Ā in 1997, the members have been working on separate projects, but fans never gave up hope of seeing them together as a band again. There have been rumors and speculations for some time about a possible reunion, and now they confirm they’ve been quietly working for some time on this new material.

Says singerĀ Roy KhanĀ (ex-KAMELOT): “It’s great to be back together. The strong bond we have makes for a great foundation for creativity. We can’t wait to present our new music which we feel shows development but still bears the signature ofĀ CONCEPTION.”

KhanĀ (full name:Ā Roy SƦtre Khantatat) recently released his first-ever solo song calledĀ “For All”. The track, which was written byĀ Khan, was recorded atĀ Stable StudiosĀ in Oslo, Norway in March 2018 and featuresĀ RoyĀ on vocals, piano and keyboards alongsideĀ Leif JohansenĀ on fretless bass andĀ Geir Olav AkselsenĀ on all guitars.

CONCEPTION Biography

The band was formed in Norway in 1989 by guitarist Tore Ƙstby, singer Dag Ƙstby, drummer Werner Skogli and bassist Freddy Samsonstuen. In 1990, after a demo tape, Arve Heimdal replaced Werner Skogli and Ingar Amlien replaced Freddy Samsonstuen. A year later, Dag Ƙstby quits, and the band is forced to search for a new vocalist. After many auditions, the band hooks up with Roy SƦtre Khantatat (Roy Khan), a classically trained opera singer.

Their somewhat short-lived career (the band disbanded in 1997-8) was characterized by a unique and distinct sound on the power/progressive metal genre which was slightly altered with their last studio release, Flow.

Conception was reunited in 2005, playing the important American prog-metal festival Prog Power USA 2005 (Friday September 16) and Norwegian Scream Magazine 15 Years & 100 Issues Festival (Saturday October 1), bringing guitarist Tore Ƙstby (Ark), singer Roy Khan (now lead singer of Kamelot) and the rest of the band back together.
