TRITON PROJECT are a new band from Thailand and “Messenger’s Quest” is their first album which consists of 5 excellent songs of progressive metal. Those who have missed the melodic aspect of the 90s progressive metal scene, and especially DREAM THEATER‘s “Scenes from a Memory” era will enjoy this album very much.
The album is full of melodies the way we listened to them 20 years ago, making the sound of the band very nostalgic and familiar. Here, we don’t have djent progressive, aggressive new prog, tech death progreessive, groovy-core progressive and all these new styles that sound ridiculous to an old fan of the scene, but a warm and cinematic progressive metal which has its roots to DREAM THEATER mostly, as well as SHADOW GALLERY and SYMPHONY X.
All five songs are great and seem like they stem from an unknown album in the 90s. Very good vocals from Sean Thompson, and very beautiful keyboads and guitar work. If you miss the 90s progressive metal era this album is for you.
