Through the Season of Change, the Eternal Flame guides us all to the Twist of our Fate. The journey continues… The treasures await in the attic.
One year ago, Arkeyn Steel Records officially presented the band’s previously unreleased 1997 LP-tape recordings, repackaged as the “Only When It Rains” full-length release.
With the release of “Songs from the Attic” compilation CD, a new chapter on the rediscovering book of the band’s story is actually opening. The compilation features even more material from the band’s archives, once again with the invaluable assistance of the band’s mastermind, Nick Giannakos (guitars).
TWIST OF FATE is for sure on one of the greatest metal bands to emerge from Akron, Ohio, USA, featuring members of MEDALYON, BEYONDΓVON, WRETCH, BREAKER, DESTRUCTOR and GRAVEN IMAGE, to name just a few, TWIST OF FATE recorded and released top-quality music throughout the 1990s, building a remarkable reputation across the underground metal scene of their area. Those who delve into the US private-release metal treasures of the decade are surely familiar with the band’s self-titled CD from 1998.
The songs from the aforementioned “Twist of Fate” mini-CD are all included the particular compilation: The band’s only official release, remains one of the finest -and rarest-, to emerge from the Ohio metal scene. Only 200 copies were produced back in 1998, and, as you can imagine, the original pressing sold out in the blink of an eye.
All of the recordings of this release, capture the band’s unique blend of heavy and progressive metal, a combination that ultimately defined the unmistakable sound trademark of this phenomenal act.
The band’s 1996 demo is also included. It was never officially released; only a handful of unofficial copies circulated hand-to-hand among band members and close friends.
There is a perfectly developed sound balancing between classic heavy metal and melodic progressive metal in those recordings, compositions like “Season Of Change” and “Eternal Flame” are perfect examples of the above mentioned combination.
Two previously unreleased compositions from 1998, which the band finally recorded as demo tracks in 2020 during the COVID-19 quarantine period, are also featured. Well I can assure you that “Savior” and “I Won’t Wait” are two of the best songs on the TWIST OF FATE catalog: Both are great examples of melodic progressive metal with beautiful keyboard development and shining guitar parts.
The Arkeyn Steel Records standards are once again featured on this release: All audio material has been completely remastered by Kostas Scandalis at Infinity Studio in Thessaloniki, ensuring the best possible listening experience. The booklet includes complete lyrics and a wealth of previously unpublished photographs. The overall artwork was developed by Kostas Athanasoglou, while the stunning fantasy cover is created by the band’s vocalist, John Stafford.
The “Songs from the Attic” compilation gives the listener the chance to discover the magnificent music of TWIST OF FATE. You can put it aside theΒ “Only When it Rains” release: Those two pieces of art would combine giving you the change to enter the musical world of this special band. Go ahead and do not waste any more time.
