What is this “Third Wave of British Heavy Metal”?
Well, if you REALLY need an answer to that, I’ll give it to you: it’s what real music would sound like if Lord Goro happens to dominate over Earthrealm!
It’s also how HANS OF GORO -the band born out of the twisted desire to strike fear of the infamous half-man/half-dragon into the heart of humanity- describes their sound. In November 2016, founding guitarist Tom Draper (SPIRIT ADRIFT) and bassist Adrian Maestas (THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG) conspired to form a group determined to unleash their chaotic fury, bringing havoc to our doomed world. In 2020, the two recruited drummer Avinash Mittur (NITE), completing the current lineup.
As society slowly re-emerged from pandemic life, HANDS OF GORO set about simply recording two songs in the summer of 2021. Between unearthing old numbers and writing new ones though, the planned humble seven-inch grew into a menacing full-length, which now arrives as the band’s eponymous debut album. The eight songs on “Hands of Goro” thunder with elements of traditional heavy metal with torrents of harmonized savagery and brief ventures into many different genres – epic touches, punk straightforwardness, 70’s classic and prog rock melodies, they are ALL here, all nicely set to blow our minds off.
HANDS OF GORO’s debut is nothing but raw energy, harsh speed and proto-metal sound played in nowadays attitude, a marriage between NWOBHM and American style hard rock; if you like MOTORHEAD, DIAMOND HEAD, TED NUGENT, THIN LIZZY, BROCAS HELM, and their likes, you will certainly love it!
“Hands of Goro” will be released in late April by Nameless Grave on both CD and LP.
