JERICHO is a new heavy/power metal band from Peru, but now they are relocated in Canada. It is the project of vocalist Lucho Jibaja who also plays all guitars and keyboards. The band appeared in 2006 with a nice demo, and now return with its first full-length album called β€œTime”.

The band plays very beautiful and simple heavy/power metal having its roots back in the 90s. So, we are talking about a band with references to the first three albums of STRATOVARIUS, the French heavy/power metal school of the era (DYSLESIA, DREAM CHILD, etc.), the β€œInishmore” period of RIOT, Yngwie J. Malmsteen and mostly his β€œThe Seventh Sign” album, HELLOWEEN, but also VIPER and the first album of ANGRA. Actually, Lucho Jibaja has something from the melancholy Andre Matos had in his first recordings.

β€œTime” is a gift to those who miss those days of heavy metal. Tones of melodies, simple production that lets the instruments breath, and great songs with easy-to-remember choruses that make point to the listeners. The fans of old school heavy/power metal will adore the majority of the songs; β€œDestiny”, β€œEnd of Time” (one of the best songs for 2022), β€œQueen of the Earth”, β€œNo Return”, β€œRunning Out of Time” (the essence of heavy/power metal) and the anthem β€œIn the Name of Mankind” will leave the fans speechless with their fantastic melodies.

JERICHO present a heavy/power metal album for those who learned and loved that music back in the 90s. The melodies of β€œTime” seem already classic, as if an unknown and obscure gem of the past is suddenly revealed. Those who adore the 90s albums of Yngwie J. Malmsteen, old STRATOVARIUS, and VIPER/old ANGRA will discover in β€œTime” an album that will probably be placed among their favorites.

ACHELOUS – Tower Of High Sorcery

In case you missed it, a couple of months ago ACHELOUS did a pre-listening session for their new album called "Tower of High Sorcery". As...

WARLORD: The legend of William J Tsamis lives – Interview and...

To tell you the truth I was a little bit skeptical when I first learned about the Warlord tribute project set by drummer and founding member Mark Zonder and singer Giles Lavery to honor the music and memory of founder guitarist William J Tsamis who unfortunately passed away back in 2021. I was looking at the facts very closely, reading announcements about forthcoming live shows, new line up and a new album. The response from the fans was massive including both positive and negative (or very negative) comments about the above facts. "How can Warlord exist without Bill Tsamis?", they were asking. One afternoon I got a call from Giles Lavery himself asking me if I wanted to do an advance review of the forthcoming Warlord album. I replied positively still being in this skeptical mood. It all went away after the first listen... William J Tsamis was there. His music, his legend, his compositions, evolved into complete songs. In total excitement I texted Giles a single message "Bill is alive". The very next evening found Mark, Giles and I talking about the album, about Bill, about the music and the legacy. It was late at night when we ended the call. I asked them if I can publish our conversation and they got no problem. So here it is again: Me talking with Warlord. The usual stuff I am doing the last 25 years for various reasons. But this time I would not call this conversation an interview. To my eyes this is a big ethical, artistic and soulful statement, by some people who want to keep the Dream, alive.
