BOZZIO/LEVIN/STEVENS (US) – Situation Dangerous (2000)

51

During the 90s, the situation was weird for the guitar heroes of the previous decade and their instrumental albums. The celebrities of the area (Vai, Satriani, Vinnie Moore, etc.) were releasing records which received mixed reviews from the fans, as they have changed their sound into rock/rock and roll, or like Marty Friedman, who preferred a new age style.

Toward the end of the 90s, LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT appeared, and instrumental records began to take over again. Bozzio (drums), Levin (bass), Stevens (guitars) released two records the same period with LTE, where Situation Dangerous was the second and final attempt.

More melodic and simpler than LTE, the trio of BOZZIO/LEVIN/STEVENSΒ  presented a more “relaxed” version of instrumental progressive, that hasn’t lost its freshness through the years. Great album full of catchy and dreamy melodies addressed to those who never get bored of listening to instrumental records with a progressive flavor!
