FM are back!!!
Posted on 27.01.2010 @ 04:32:16 by Countraven

The mighty FM return with a new album in classic FM style! 12 years after their split in 1995, at Nottingham Rock City on 27th October 2007, after considering (and declining) multiple previous approaches from the organisers of a melodic hard rock all-dayer called the Firefest, Merv, Steve, Pete, Andy and Jem finally played together again in public for the first time.

With stage two of the group's career about to begin, they were disappointed to accept the resignation of Andy Barnett. However, with an exciting new guitarist on board these plans are now firmly back on target. Brought into the band at Steve Overland's suggestion, Jim Kirkpatrick was already a huge fan of FM so it was an honor to accept the chance of joining a group whose records he loved. Kirkpatrick was blooded at a low-key gig at Wigan's Winstanley College in March 2009. All too aware of the way others have fallen at the same hurdle, FM have taken their time in completing a comeback disc, ‘Metropolis', which drops in March 2010

Line-Up: Steve Overland (vocals, guitars), Merv Goldsworthy (bass), Pete Jupp (Drums), Jem Davis (Keyboards), Jim Kirkpatrick (Guitars)

Track list: 01.WILDSIDE, 02.HOLLOW, 03.FLAMINGO RD, 04.UNBREAKABLE, 05.DAYS GONE BY, 06.METROPOLIS, 07.OVER YOU, 08.DON'T NEED NOTHIN', 09.BRING BACK YESTERDAY, 10.I AIN'T THE ONE, 11.EXTRA MILE, 12.WHO'LL STOP THE RAIN, 13.THE FIGHT GOES ON

FALCON not to appear @ HOA
Posted on 21.01.2010 @ 02:24:48 by Countraven

Post by: Perry Grayson

It has come to our attention that the Headbanger's Open Air Festival has been advertising a confirmed appearance by "Greg Lindstrom and Friends" on their 2010 bill and Falcon on the HOA Warm-Up gig. This is not true.

While the HOA fest did contact us and discuss the possibility of Falcon (Greg Lindstrom, Perry Grayson and Darin McCloskey) playing a set of Cirith Ungol classics at the fest itself and a full Falcon set at the Warm-Up gig, no contracts were ever signed and no flights were booked. No offense to the HOA organizers, but these arrangements were never confirmed. HOA tickets were, however, sold under the pretense that "Greg Lindstrom and Friends" would be performing. In the music business agreements are made in writing via contracts. Until the paper is signed by both parties nothing is confirmed. I am always on top of posting news on our various sites and making press releases. If any gig or event is ever confirmed the news gets posted quickly. You'll all notice that there was never an announcement made by me or any of the other Falcon members regarding HOA 2010. That is because there was no confirmation. It is best not to count your chickens before they hatch. Read: "don't get ahead of yourselves."

We regret that Cirith Ungol and Falcon fans were in any way misled, but that is out of our control. Thanks for understanding! Better news for you next time, I'm sure...

Best Heavy Rawkin' Wishes for 2010 and Beyond,

Perry
(on behalf of Greg Lindstrom and Darin McCloskey)

While Heaven Wept - Re-releases
Posted on 04.12.2009 @ 03:17:33 by Countraven

From WHW Site:

Official Joint Press Release from WHW/Cruz Del Sur Music/Iron Kodex Records

While Heaven Wept:
After years of requests to re-issue our previous albums from all over the world, it is with great honor that we announce two new collaborations regarding this and more! In commemoration of our 20th Anniversary and in response to all of you out there waiting, WHW and Cruz Del Sur Music present to you brand new CD re-issues of "Sorrow Of The Angels" and "Of Empires Forlorn!" These versions feature the unaltered audio content of the originals, so as to preserve their integrity and offer those who missed them the first time around one more chance to procure them, but it should be noted that they are both strictly limited to 1000 hand-numbered copies each, and they will NOT be repressed. Both albums feature updated artwork, and new liner notes, but for those who already own these, unless you need to have the complete WHW collection, there's nothing otherwise new on offer. However, the 2nd collaboration is likely to be a bit more exciting for the veterans: We've also reached an agreement regarding vinyl LP pressings for both albums for the first time and additionally, a final 2nd edition of our latest album "Vast Oceans Lachrymose" as well! A joint cooperation between Germany's Iron Kodex and High Roller Records (plus Maniacal Records once again in the case of "Vast Oceans Lachrymose") has enabled this truly amazing release schedule in time for our appearance at the Hammer Of Doom III festival in Wurzburg, Germany on February 6th, 2010. Here are the official press releases from the respective labels, and thank all of you out there for standing by us the past 20 years! Cheers! :

Cruz Del Sur Music:
We have heard your calls! After the incredible response to While Heaven Wept's brand new album "Vast Oceans Lachrymose" - which continues to receive the very highest of accolades worldwide, Cruz Del Sur Music, as well as the continued demands from their audience, have finally convinced the band to re-issue their long out-of-print past albums "Sorrow Of The Angels" and "Of Empires Forlorn" in limited-editions of 1000 hand-numbered CD's each!!!

This is a rare opportunity for everyone who missed these masterpieces of epic doom metal history the first time around to buy these at new-release prices (as opposed to the outrageous amounts these albums sometimes fetch on eBay). Both albums feature updated cover art, new pictures, and new liner notes from mainman Tom Phillips. The audio content is identical to the original Eibon Records ("Sorrow Of The Angels") and Rage Of Achilles Records ("Of Empires Forlorn") releases so as to preserve the integrity of the original albums.

These re-issues will be strictly limited to 1000 copies, with absolutely no re-pressing whatsoever at the request of While Heaven Wept themselves. Both albums will be released simultaneously at the end of January 2010, just in time for the bands' appearance at Hammer Of Doom III in Wurzburg, Germany on February 6th.

18 Latest Album Reviews
5 Latest Interviews
Stormbringer: Stormbringer hail from the vast frozen land of Siberia. Having two demos under their belt, they are currently preparing their debut strike. Having listened to some of the upcoming album's songs, I had no choice but to do an interview with the guys since their molten speed metal convinced me that we're in for one hell of a record!! Read on to learn more about the band, their music, and what the term “dedication” really means when it comes to metal…

The Great Kat: A beautiful woman that can shred “Flight of the bumblebee” at 300bpm and eat your heart while doing it… literally! That, in a nutshell, is The Great Kat, a decorated classical violinist that has been dominating the six string for the past couple of decades. When the opportunity for an interview came up, TFS rose to the occasion, and the resulting answers are just as you’d expect: Fast, furious and chaotic, with more caps and exclamation points than any other piece of written word ever published…ever!!! Enjoy!

Destructor: Well, time for a Destructor interview and it seems that Dave Overkill (vocals/guitar) is sure 100% in an answering mood. Grab a cold beer, turn the volume to the maximum while the Forever In Leather album hammers your speakers and read many interesting details about those Thrash / speed Metal giants.

Battleroar: Greek Epic Metal pioneers are back, new album, new more and powerful shows and a new interview on Forgotten Scroll. Marco Concoreggi the singer of the band answers our questions. Enjoy!

Hour Of 13: In the case of Hour Of 13 it is much better to turn the volume in fucking high level and listen their haunting Steel again and again than to read any kind of interview or review. Anyway it is always interesting to learn what is going on with this mysterious band so after the 13th time of their debut’s listening you can spend sometime and read what Phil Sawnson, the main unholy spirit behind the band has to say:

Tribute - Solitude Productions: Russian label Solitude Productions and the Sub Label BadMoodMan Music brings to the masses some great pieces of sorrowful music. The stuff coming out by those two labels is basically focused on Doom Metal but Ambient, Black Metal and Downtempo stuff would find a safe place under the label’s moniker as well.
