Posted on 04.06.2008 @ 09:17:15 by Asgardlord

Stygia is a world class guest project/band created by Todd Seitz. The project is intended to capture the epic brutality of several dark fantasy themes. An all star lineup collaborates to make this fantasy come to life in the form of Progressive Power Metal. The band's initial demo was released in November 2007. An over the top album will be recorded this summer with an all star lineup of Vocalist Michael Vescera (Obsession, Ex. Yngwie Malmsteen, Loudness), Keyboardist Mats Olausson (Ex. Yngwie Malmsteen), Bassist Michael LePond (Symphony X), Guitarist Todd Seitz (Stygia Mainman) and Drummer John Macaluso (Ex. Yngwie Malmsteen, Ark, TNT).

Nightmare Signs Memoira
Posted on 28.05.2008 @ 13:22:41 by Countraven
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Metal world,

We are proud to announce the signing of a new metal force MEMOIRA, a young female fronted Finnish band playing what we would call "epic melancholic metal that has progressive and gothic orchestral parts. Carrying on in the fashon of bands such as Nightwish, Epica, Kamelot, Within Temptation, Evanescence, Lacuna Coil.

MEMOIRA is known for it's strong melancholic melodies and heavy guitar walls, and began it's journey in the beginning of 2007, originally formed by the two guitarists Jani Haanpää and Marko Heurlin in 2001. They gathered together a group of various musicians who had played in different bands. Memoira went to studio to work on first album in the end of 2007 and in the beginning of 2008 started to work with Lance King (known for best for his work as vocalist of BALANCE OF POWER, PYRAMAZE and most recently of AVIAN & KRUCIBLE ) as an executive producer naturally leading to their new full length debut "SELF TITLED" release with Lance's label Nightmare records.

Release date has been set for AUGUST 19TH, 2008

Exodus re-sign with nuclear blast
Posted on 28.05.2008 @ 13:21:50 by Countraven

BayArea Thrashers EXODUS, who recently finished an European Tour together with EVILE, have announced the following statement regarding their new deal:

"Hey all, just kicking back at home for a bit before we head over to Europe late July, but I am pleased to announce that Exodus have re-signed to Nuclear Blast! We have been working on this since last October and I am happy to say that we'll continue our relationship with the greatest label in metal for some time to come! It's good to be with a label that we can call home after so many different stops along our career and we are psyched to move even further into the future. There is no telling how heavy things can get!" Gary

Nuclear Blast A&R Manager Jaap Wagemaker stated the following:

We are very stoked to inform the world that EXODUS and riffmaster par excellence Gary Holt have re-signed with the devil... euh Nuclear Blast! Exodus is going through a second youth at the moment and are on record and live stronger than ever! After having released 3 of the most heaviest albums in their longlasting career, EXODUS are back on the map of the metal scence! They are also responsible for bringing thrash metal back to the masses and singlehandly started up a new worldwide thrash movement! The last couple of years have been a great ride working with Exodus and we are looking forward to the future! EXODUS are preparing the songs for the follow up to their highly criticly acclaimed album "The Atrocity Exhibtion - Exhibit A" and Gary told us, it will be the meanest monster he has ever written! Whenever Gary says something like this, we always know that he will deliver!

It is simply a pleasure and an honour to have the legendary EXODUS on the label!

Jaap Wagemaker - A&R Nuclear Blast

Posted on 14.05.2008 @ 09:23:32 by Asgardlord

The swedish band issued the following announcement :

"First of all THANKS for all comments and supportive messages lately. We have decided to give it a shot and let you all know that we are looking for someone to replace Christian Liljegren, who left us a few weeks ago. If you are (or if you know someone who is) a great metal/hard rock singer with a good register, have a personal faith in Jesus Christ and who is interested in joining our band for recording a new album and for playing concerts, please, drop us a line at cj@grimmark.com! Send us detailed info about yourself and let us know who you are. We have received some nice messages from boys and girls with great voices already, for which we are very thankful, but we'd like to know who else is hiding out there."

Sacred Oath: Connecticut’s Sacred Oath, made an impressive comeback with last year’s “Darkness Visible”. Their winning streak continues with the pulverizing live album “…Till Death do us part”, recorded live at Keep it True festival. Here to tell us more about it, is mainman Rob Thorne.

Sanchez: Swedish singer Jose Sanchez just released his debut album. The Forgotten Scroll didn't miss the chance of interviewing the man himself! Enjoy!

Ignitor: I still wonder why Asgardlord –the female fronted bands master- has not picked this interview (Asgard's note : I'm wondering the same thing, I love Ignitor!!!)… anyway Ignitor from Austin, Texas, US has released a kill second album so we are preparing our attack through an interview answered by the entire band. Enjoy.

Mist Of Soul: Mist Of Soul from my home island Syros (Greece) kick some serious ass. They manage to mix classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal elements, with a fresh and inspired touch of Steel that brings them inside the circle of their era bands (the 00s) so do not expect any retro-copying stuff in here but be prepared for music by a band that walks on classic basis expanding their talent in order to make a personal sound. Michalis and Antonis (guitars) were kind enough to answer to my questions on the band’s very first interview were they point some useful info about their history and their debut demo called seduction.

Icarus Witch: Icarus Witch hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US have already reached their second full length album. Taking us a fact that their music is blasting our stereos since the days of their debut Mini CD we thought it was about time for an interview on Forgotten Scroll that would give us (and you) the chance to discover what the hell is going on with this KILLER band. Jason (bass) was kind enough to answer to our questions.

Tribute - King's Ransom: King’s Ransom from San Antonio, Texas, really captivated me with their beautiful “Curators of the Realm” EP. As you’ll see in the review featured on this site, it’s a unique piece of genuinely progressive and at times theatrical heavy metal. Here’s some information on this wonderful band, gathered mostly from the innersleave of the vinyl re-release of “Curators…” by Steel Legacy records.
